Zenobia, an art exhibition calls for combating violence against women

Zenobia is an art exhibition organized by Roots Society for Education, Social and Psychological Support in cooperation with the Business Women Committee at Damascus Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of the 16-day campaign for combating violence against woman.

Chairperson of the Society Kholoud Rajab said that the exhibition comes within the framework of combating violence against women, noting that violence against women negatively reflects on men and children.

Artist Laila al-Osta, one of the participants, said that the exhibition aims at introducing the issue of violence against women, adding that the exhibits vary between painting, photography and graphics and most of the participants pursued the expressionistic and symbolic techniques.

In reply to a question about the role of the Business Women Committee, al-Osta said that the Committee is concerned with participating in all events related to women's issues and offering facilitations to all women who want to start small projects.

About twenty two artists, students and graduates of the Fine Arts Faculty are taking part in the event displaying more than twenty posters and oil paintings that call for halting violence against women.
