Israeli occupation trying to impose its curricula on schools in occupied al-Quds: Palestinian Foreign Ministry

OCCUPIED Al-QUDS, (ST)- The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has called on the international community to act immediately to stop the Israeli occupation's heinous campaign against the schools of occupied al-Quds, particularly the UNRWA schools.

In a statement on Monday, the ministry said that the occupation authorities are trying to impose their curricula and force the Palestinian students in al-Quds, particularly those who attend UNRWA schools to go to the occupation's schools.

The ministry condemned the Israeli authorities' direct interference in the Palestinian curricula and their repeated acts of storming the schools and killing, wounding and arresting Palestinian students and teachers. It also condemned the occupation's attempt to impede the students' arrival to their schools, stressing that this behavior is a flagrant violation of the international humanitarian law.

Education is a legitimate right that is recognized by all international conventions, said the ministry, pointing out that the international humanitarian law doesn't allow the occupation authorities to hamper students' access to education or impose any change in the content of the education process in the occupied territories.

By the beginning of 2020, the Israeli occupation authorities announced a plan to close UNRWA schools and institutions in al-Quds within the framework of the American-Israeli attempt to end UNRWA's work in preparation for preventing the acknowledgment of the Palestinian refugees' right to return to their homeland and for passing the so-called Deal of the Century".
