President Al-Assad: Syria's Strong Relation with Iran, Iraq Enhanced Further during the War on Terrorism

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad has underscored that Syria's strong relation with both Iran and Iraq has been enhanced further during the war on terrorism and its supporters in which the blood of the Syrian hero soldiers was mixed with that of the Iranian and Iraqi soldiers.

President Al-Assad made the remarks during his meeting on Monday with Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, and the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, Lieutenant General Othman al-Ghanmi, and their accompanying delegations. The meeting was attended by Syria's Defense Minister, Gen. Ali Abdullah Ayyoub.

The meeting proves that Syria, Iran and Iraq are in the same battle and trench against the same enemy, President Al-Assad said, hailing the meeting as being "a meeting for the principles, mainly dignity and honor, which distinguish our peoples and of which we are proud."

Fighting Terrorism Intellectually and Ideologically Is More Important than Fighting It Militarily

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad has reiterated that the war on terrorism in Syria is part of a broader war in the international arena and that terrorism can't be limited in a specific geographic area, because distance has never been a barrier hindering the expansion of extremist mentality.

President Al-Assad made the remarks during his meeting on Sunday with China's Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong and the accompanying delegation. Talks during the meeting dealt with the strong and historical relations between Syria and China and the need to consolidate coordination and cooperation in the political, military, economic, cultural and technological domains.

President Al-Assad Visits Iran, Holds Meetings with Sayyed Khamenei and President Rouhani

TEHRAN, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad on Monday visited Iran and held meetings with Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and President Hassan Rouhani.

"The future of Syria is decided only by the Syrians"


DAMASCUS, (ST)-"The local Administration is a very important experience in Syria…municipalities were accordingly granted the more of decentralism, particularly in accordance with Law N. 107 stipulations," said H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad.

In a landmark speech to Syria's Local Administration elected councils mayors, President Assad outlined the role of the Local Councils as to achieve growth balance between all of Syria's regions and as to help central establishments to focus at auditing and comprehensive policies in the best investment for human and financial resources.

"Local Councils are more aware of local details in bolstering of local societies development and expanding participation from bottom to top and vice-versa. Partnership between society and the state is the democratic participation on the basis of comprehensive dialogue as a means for building and development," added H.E. President Assad.

President Assad, to the frequent thundering slogans of support, allegiance by the crowded hall, pointed out that backers of terrorism supported terrorism as to control of geography as much as it could as to weaken the control of the state and its sovereignty as to weaken social harmony and then divide our country," asserted President Assad,

President Assad noted that the plotters for exerting hegemony on the globe have not changed and the will of resistance is even more determined.

Agreements Reached between Syria and Iran Would Enhance Two Countries’ Steadfastness against Western-Led Economic War

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad and Iran’s First Vice President Es'haq  Jahangiri on Tuesday discussed results of the meetings of the Syrian-Iranian Higher Committee which concluded yesterday in Damascus.

Eleven agreements, including the long-term strategic economic cooperation agreement, were signed during the meetings.

 President Al-Assad and Jahangiri expressed satisfaction over the results and affirmed the need to continuously follow up the implementation and reactivation of the signed deals.

The agreements and cooperation projects reached between Syria and Iran have a strategic dimension and form a strong economic base that would contribute to enhancing the steadfastness of Syria and Iran in the face of the western-led economic war targeting the two countries, President Al-Assad stressed.
