Syrian Swimmers win gold and silver medals

Tashkent - Syrian swimmer Bayan Jumma won a gold medal in (100m) freestyle stroke with a time (57.60sec) at the 9th Asian Age Group Championships in Uzbekistan.

Jumma also, won a silver medal in (200m) freestyle stroke swimming race.

Syrian swimmer Ayman Kalziyeh won a silver medal in (400m) Different Swimming Strokes race with (12.34.4min).

Syrian swimmer Azad al-Barazi won the bronze medal of (50m) breaststroke race on Saturday.

Syrian football team qualifies for play-offs of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification

Tehran – The Syrian football team qualified for the play-offs of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification after tying with Iran 2-2 in the match held in Tehran on Tuesday evening.

The Syrian team gained an early lead at the 13 minutes mark with a goal by Tamer Hajj Mohammad, but the Iranian team scored the equalizer at the last minute of the first half from a corner kick.

Syria beats Qatar 3-1

Kuala Lumpur - Syrian national football team beat Qatari counterpart (3-1) within the 9th round of the world cup qualifications for Russia 2018.

Players Omar Kharbin scored for Syria at the (7th, 55th) min while Mahmoud Mawas scored in the extra time.

The Syrian team became in the third place of the group with 12 points, Iran comes first with 21 points, South Korea is in the second place with 14 points, and Uzbekistan fourth with 12 points, China comes in the fifth place with 9 points and Qatar in the bottom of the group with 7 points.

The Syrian team will meet Iran next Tuesday in the final match of the qualifications.

Ghazal wins silver medal at Birmingham Diamond League

London – Syrian athlete Majd-Eddin Ghazal won on Sunday a silver medal in the high jump competition at  Birmingham Diamond League meeting in UK.

Ghazal won the silver medal after jumping 231 cm while the Qatari athlete Mutaz Essa Barshim took the first place after he jumped 240 cm.

Ghazal will participate in the final round of Athletics Diamond League which will be held next Thursday in the Swiss city of Zurich.

Last Sunday, Ghazal won a bronze medal in the high jump competition at the World Athletics Championship currently held in London.

Al-Jaish wins its 15th title as Syrian Premier League Champion for 2016/2017

Damascus – Al-Jaish won the Syrian Premier League Championship for 2016/2017 after drawing 0 – 0 with Jableh in the match held on Tuesday at al-Baath Stadium. Al-Jaish was crowned champion for the 15th time in its history.

Al-Jaish took the lead with 64 points while Jableh finished in the 13th place with 31 points only.

Tishreen came in the second place with 61 points, three behind the league leaders, following a 3-2 win over al-Taliye’a, which ranked 8th with 35 points, in a match held at al-Basel Stadium in Lattakia. Football players Kinan Deeb, Basel Mustafa and Mohammed Bash Biyok scored Tishreen’s three goals in the game.
