Syria’s U-17 basketball team beats Qatari counterpart 80-70 at Iran international tournament

Tehran - Syria’s U-17 basketball team beat its Qatari counterpart 80-70 in a game that was held on Wednesday within Iran international tournament, SANA reported.

The Syrian team lost to Iran’s under 16 by 40-65 on Tuesday and to Iran’s under 18 by 41-94 on Monday. All are friendly games.

Syrian football team placed in pot 1 in qualifiers draw for FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023

Kuala Lumpur - The qualifiers draw for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 which was held at the headquarters of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur placed the Syrian football team in the pot 1 along with the teams of China, the Philippines, Maldives and Guam.

The teams will compete within their groups in a two-stage tournament in the qualifiers which will start next September and the team which will rank first in each group along with the top four teams which will rank second will qualify to the finals of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023, SANA reported.

Syria ties with India 1-1

New Delhi - Syria’s national football team lost the opportunity to qualify to the final match of India International tournament after a tie with India 1-1 in a game that was held on Tuesday within the third round of the competition, SANA reported.

India scored first in the (52nd min) of the match while Syria tied through a penalty kick of Firas al-Khateb at the (80th min) of the game.

The Syrian team came third with 4 points behind Tajikistan and Democratic Korea, each has 6 pints.

Syrian Nour Baddour wins bronze medal at 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Kazakhstan

Nur- Sultan - Noura Baddour of the Syrian national team for special sports won a bronze medal at 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championships being currently held in Kazakhstan qualifying for Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, SANA reported.

Baddour was able to lift 90 in the women’s up to 41kg and qualified for Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Syrian Players Rasha al-Sheikh, Fatima al-Hassan, and Shadi Issa are also participating in the competition.

Syria Beats Oman 1-0 in a friendly match

Muscat - Syria’s national U-19 football team beat its Omani counterpart (1-0) in a friendly match.

The game was held on Tuesday in the capital of Oman, (Muscat).

Mohammad Mashhadani scored in the (10th min) of the game.

It’s to be mention that Syrian team tied with Oman last week.

This game comes in the preparation of our team for (AFC U-19 championship) in group C to face Tajikistan, Lebanon and Maldives next September.
