The village of Hazm, which is located in the  basaltic Lajat region in Sweida province , tells the story of civilizations that have  passed  over the region since the third millennium BC..

The village is famous for its ornate old houses, which were built of basalt stones, in addition to the monuments including  stone doors and channels to draw water from the old wells and ponds, which were used by  man ,who inhabited the area , for various purposes.

Last Saturday in a provisional exhibition at the feet of the eminent Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara, color vibrant sealed tombs and statues that were buried more than 2,500 years ago were displayed.

Egyptian officials have announced the discovery of at least 100 ancient coffins, some with mummies inside and some 40 gold-plated statues in a vast pharaonic necropolis south of the capital, Cairo. The discovery is the latest in a series of archaeological finds in Egypt. Since September, antiquities authorities revealed at least 140 sealed sarcophagi, with mummies inside most of them, in the same area.

MOSCOW, (ST)- The restoration works for the Arch of Triumph in the historical Syrian city of Palmyra will be implemented in three successive stages, according to "Anastasia Volodarskaya", the executive director of a Russian Association for rock cutting and building stones industry.

 The General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums announced on Friday that it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Association of the Russian Stone Industry seeking the assistance of Russian experts and specialists to restore the Arch of Triumph in Palmyra, which was destroyed by "Daesh terrorist organization in October 2015.

In a statement to journalists, Volodarskaya said that the restoration project is divided into three successive stages; the first starts with documenting the current situation of the arch, the second includes examining the fragmentation caused to the arch and its elements using up-to-date 3D techniques and the third includes restoration works.

The rehabilitation of Souk al-Saqatiyya in the Old City of Aleppo won the ICCROM-Sharjah Award for Best Experiment in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management in the Arab region.

ICCROM-Sharjah is one of the most important contests that takes place every two years and is concerned in cultural heritage in the Arab region. It aims at honoring and rewarding outstanding works that contribute to the protection and vitality of tangible cultural heritage in the Arab world.

The project of rehabilitating Souk al-Saqatiyya, which was submitted by the Agha Khan Institution for Cultural services-Syria, ranked first among 14 other Arab cultural projects.

The project is considered as a leading example of reconstruction in Syria that demonstrates the competence of the Syrian national expertise in rehabilitating historical sites that were massively damaged because of the war in the country.

A team of scientists in Morocco discovered the remains of a dinosaur that lived 66 million years ago.

Moroccan newspaper Hespress reported that this discovery came due  to rocks found in a mine around the Moroccan city of Casablanca, dating back to 66 million years.

The dinosaur belongs to the "duckbill" family, which are plant-eating dinosaurs, up to 15 meters long.

The discovered dinosaur was small compared to its peers, with a length of only 3 meters and the size of a horse. Scientists say that it is likely that the discovered dinosaur was a swimming animal thanks to its large tails and strong legs.
