As soon as the summer arrived, lovers of mountain hiking tourism headed to al-Zawi waterfalls, in Misyaf city, Hama province. Al-Zawi waterfalls are among the most beautiful tourist sites in Syria, where you can find rivers and waterfalls, and enjoy comfort and serenity in a charming nature.

According to Researcher Nabil Ajamiya, al-Zawi waterfalls are located on the eastern slopes of the coastal mountain range in al-Zawi village - 115 km from the city of Misyaf. Greenery and pine trees, in addition to orchards of fig, pomegranate, nuts and vines, surround the village.

Ajamiya indicates that several springs feed this waterway, including al-Zawi and al-Laqbah, along with other gently flowing springs down the mountains’ slopes, ultimately forming al-Zawi waterfalls and the 5- km long river.

About the name of the village, Ajamiya explains that mounts of al-Laqbah and al-Qurayyat meet at a perpendicular angle as the waterfall and the river are placed exactly in this angle, overlooking the valley; hence the name ‘al-Zawi’ (perpendicular)is given both to the village and its waterfalls.

“Wadi al-Oyoun” is a tourist attraction for Syrians . Visitors come for the area’s scenery , including the numerous springs, waterfalls and the greenery, which heavily covers the rocks and the floors of the area..

A distinguished feature- the waterfall of Wadi al-Oyoun is a place where   visitors’ can touch and play in the waterfall and climb its rocks.

Head of  Wadi al-Oyoun municipality Hasan Abbas told   SANA  that the town of Wadi al-Oyoun is the center of a sub-district of  Masyaf region, indicating that the town and the valley in which it lies, on the highway of Masyaf-Tartous,  is known for its numerous   springs - 360 in total, from which Wadi al-Oyoun receives its name.

Abbas underscored that Wadi al-Oyoun is a wonderful vacationing and tourism region in which encompasses all services that encourage  tourists, pointing out that the town is distinguished by its famous castle, which was a place for many tourists to enjoy the beauty of the town's mountains, which are covered with oak trees, rice, shrubs and woods, in addition to a number of animals such as deer, foxes, reptiles and rare birds.

 For their parts, residents of Wadi al-Oyoun, who  seized the opportunity of quarantine period, stressed that they spend their days amid the beauty of their picturesque nature, where flowering olive groves, green magic and roses paint the most beautiful scenes in the town.

They  stressed that located in the heart of a fascinating nature and close to human habitation areas, Wadi al-Oyoun is one of the most beautiful destinations in the country, wishing for the return of normal life to the town(as it was full of visitors), after the end of the epidemic Coronavirus.

Rawaa Ghanam

It is located to the west of Old Damascus, inside the fence, this famous 600-meter-long souk, built along the original Roman route. It is among the popular shopping places in Damascus.

Al-Hamidiyah was built in 1780 under the rule of Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid. The souk is named “al- hamidiyah” because of the presence of the “Ahmadiyya School” in it, which used to be where the Omawy Mosque is today.

In that time, in 1988 the shop were renewed, and in 2000, the ancient basalt archaeological columns outside the shops were appeared, because of their archaeological importance.

British tourist Lewis Crimten made a visit to the ancient city of Palmyra to see its historical sites and the extent of destruction that took place in the city as a result of the terrorist attacks of ISIS.

SANA quoted Crimten, who works as a director of marketing in one of the major commercial companies in Britain, as saying: “I came to Syria because I have a great desire to visit the famous archaeological and tourist sites in the country, especially the city of Palmyra that is known worldwide for its ancient and glorious history. I also aim at documenting the destruction that was caused to the country's archaeological sites due to ISIS terrorist attacks".

Since ancient times, Damascus has been  famous for making jewelry silver. Syrian craftsmen have excelled at producing varied beautiful forms of silver that attract the attention of tourists and visitors of the old city of Damascus.

Silver production widely spread after the price of gold hiked. Shops selling silver have been decorated with precious stones such as rubies and agate, which are available in various places, including the handcraft markets in the old city.
