Chickpea Salad in the Syrian way

Chickpea salad is a delicious and filling dish with a bright Syrian dressing. It is healthy, tasty, easy, gluten-free and naturally vegan.

This salad is colorful, full with flavors, very filling with a spicy  combination and it is great for parties and gatherings.

It can stay in the fridge for several days, just drain and use if you wish.

Chickpeas are a staple in the Syrian pantry, and it is a very affordable meat substitute for vegans and vegetarian people. This little chubby legume is an excellent source of protein, healthy fats, fiber, carbohydrates, and a long list of vitamins and minerals. Being packed with protein and fibers, chickpeas are considered a good food to promote weight loss.

Syrian Green Beans

Velvety green beans, also known as (fasolia bi zet) is a delicious rich green beans casserole with tomato, herbs and olive oil. Absolute flavor perfection melts in the mouth vegan dish.

A very unique dish that is unlike sauteed green beans. Make them vegan or add some cooked beef for a hearty meal.

It is an easy recipe, rich and very flavorful. Today we will prepare it on the Syrian way.



▢1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 

▢1 medium yellow onion diced.

▢4-5 garlic cloves minced.

▢1 1/4 cup hot water.

Fattet Makdous

Fatteh or fattah is a Syrian dish that uses pieces of toasted or fresh flatbread as a foundation upon which various ingredients are added on top. 

Fatteh can be made with chickpeas (Arabic: Fattet Humus), or with chicken (Arabic : Fattet Dajaj), or with eggplants like today’s recipe. 

Fattet Makdous is a specialty of Damascus, it is Crispy, juicy and delicious dish with layering eggplant, crispy flat bread pieces and yogurt, garlic sauce then topped with nuts.

The traditional way to cook these potatoes is to deep-fry them so they are nice and crispy but you could drizzle a little olive oil over them and roast them in the oven for 45 minutes

These quick Syrian skillet potatoes pack tons of flavor from garlic, coriander and a splash of lime juice adds a little extra brightness.

The ingredients used in the dish are quite beneficial, in terms of health.  garlic has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In fact, the vegetable is known to be very high in Vitamin A, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B2, Vitamin E, potassium, fiber, potassium, niacin and several other nutrients.

It is a versatile dish that you can think of both as a side or even a unique potato salad.
